The exhibition “In lotus flower, in bamboo branches” was solemnly opened. Fauna in Chinese painting"



 On March 30, the Darwin Museum hosted the grand opening of the exhibition “In a lotus flower, in bamboo branches. Fauna in Chinese painting”, which introduces the works of masters and students of the Chainka Oriental Painting and Calligraphy Workshop.

Director of the State Darwin Museum Anna Iosifovna Klyukina addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. The director of the museum emphasized that the animal genre is one of the most ancient forms of art, and familiarity with world artistic culture and traditions is an important component of the museum’s activities.

The opening was attended by honored guests from the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation: Minister-Counselor for Culture of the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center Feng Litao, Second Secretaries Hei Guo and Li Yuzhi, Yun Weiwei and representative of the Chinese Cultural Center Wang Rui.

Mr. Feng Litao addressed the guests of the vernissage in Russian. He expressed gratitude to the Darwin Museum and hope for further strengthening of cultural ties between China and Russia, admired the talent of Russian artists in comprehending Chinese painting and emphasized the importance of popularizing this ancient art among children and youth.

Director of the Chainka Oriental Painting and Calligraphy Workshop Olga Sumarokova shared the history of the creation of the workshop and plans for the future, spoke about the importance of Chinese painting in her life and the lives of other artists. Exhibition curator Marina Galich noted that real art has no boundaries.

Nonna Liparteliani and Olga Obukhova performed musical works on Chinese instruments: xun ocarina, xiao and dizi flutes, guzheng zither.

At the end of the evening, Olga Sumarokova held an interactive master class for the vernissage guests, during which she demonstrated the technique of creating drawings in the fast and dynamic SE-I style (from Chinese, “idea painting”). Before the eyes of the audience, a drawing of a red panda appeared on rice paper in the branches of bamboo - a symbol of the exhibition and one of the rarest animals in China.
